Bob McGrath Wife; Ann Logan Sperry

According to his loved ones, Bob McGrath, one of the first human stars of “Sesame Street” and a stalwart on the program for years, has passed away.

The actor’s family posted the tragic news on his official Facebook page on Sunday. “Bob McGrath, our father, died away today. He passed away quietly at home, surrounded by his loved ones.”

McGrath’s most enduring role will be as a regular cast member of the popular children’s show, having debuted in the 1960s when the program initially debuted. He played himself in the premiere episode of the show in 1969 and continued to work for another 47 seasons. In 2017, he quit performing on “Sesame Street”; his final episode was “Having a Ball.”

He brought a musical element to the show as well, with original songs like “People in Your Neighborhood,” “Sing a Song,” “If You’re Happy And You Know It,” and even the “Sesame Street” theme song. He also provided educational lessons for kids through his interactions with the puppets.

Bob continued to work with Sesame Workshop, the organization that manages the franchise, even after he stopped appearing on camera for “Sesame Street” in recent years. He did this by attending public events and acting as an advocate.

Over the years, Bob appeared in various “Sesame Street” projects, such as stand-alone movies, sing-alongs, Christmas specials, video games, and more. He was one of the series’ human adult cast members who had been there the longest. He leaves behind his wife and children.
